The Challenge: to create memorable and unique packaging for a brandless, common item. I chose children’s socks because I enjoy the playfulness of other sock packaging I’ve seen, like BabyAspen’s Caterpillar Crawlers.
The Solution: I approached this project with children’s book illustrations in mind, which serve as an engaging artform for both guardian and child. The packaging is fun and by displaying a child wearing the socks and being something they playfully imagine themselves to be, the socks reach out to signal comfort, fun, and play. This design parts from typical sock packaging and gains a unique shelving space that is eye catching.

Challenge: to design a label for a local-to-Maine woman's iconic marinade brand.
Solution: to make a marinade jar container homey, clean, fun, and bold. This was achieved through distinct colors, personalized illustration, and using contrasting fonts.
Sauced
Challenge: to create, market, and sell a stationery pack that embodies the warmth, dreaminess, and beauty of a New England inspired coastline.
Solution: Use warm, summery colors to illustrate the beautiful rocky cliffs and soft beaches of New England. The rounded writing lines add a cute, aesthetically simple touch to the stationery. Comes with plain ocean-blue envelopes.

Challenge: to create a poster using only typography to convey the essence of the quote.
Solution: Here, I used handwritten script simplified and edited in Adobe Illustrator to create an open and clean presentation of the words, which illustrates the quote’s suggestion to the reader to think openly.

Challenge: I was approached by the president of the on-campus group Wilde Stein to celebrate the 45th year anniversary of their club. The challenge was to create a shirt design using only black and white that celebrated the group’s long history.
Solution: As Wilde Stein was founded in the 1970s, I used a type that reflected that era and a groovy, round geometry and aesthetic that is a staple in retrospective 1970s fashion.

'Zine
Challenge: to produce a 32 page book of my choosing.
Solution: Given how open this project was, I pursued a personal avenue of an art magazine, or ‘zine. Much like my first ‘zine published six months prior outside of class, this second ‘zine is filled with personal art from my sketchings and writings. It serves as an intimate glimpse into my life at the time of creation. Through making this project I learned the hard work that goes into making a publication like this one, starting from initial ideas and content creation to printing and binding the final product.
Challenge: to build a brand image for a fictional music band named Stax Overflow that captured the essence of the band through deliverables such as a logo, business card, stationary with envelopes, and merchandise.
Solution: By using appropriate fonts and color palettes I sought to capture the band’s gritty, New York 1970s punk band aesthetic. The logo is simple but dynamic in the use of uneven grid pattern lines.

Paralax
Scrolling
Challenge: to create a scene demonstrating parallax scrolling to create the illusion of depth using Adobe Illustrator and Adobe After Effects.
Solution: I chose an appealing color palette and two simple characters to serve as complementary to the background. I created a total of seven background layers, all moving by at different speeds, to create the illusion of depth.
Kinetic
Typography
Challenge: to articulate the flow of spoken word through kinetic typography made in Adobe After Effects.
Solution: I chose a charged interview between Lou Reed of the Velvet Underground and an interviewer. This fast paced banter allowed me to play with the text shapes, sizes, and compositions to express the nature of the fiery conversation.
Challenge: to make a one minute animated short as a final project for Time Based Art and Design I that demonstrates the skills acquired throughout the entire class.
Solution: a short that contains animation synced to audio, multiple rigged and parented characters, and interaction of characters that is expressive. I hope to edit and improve this video even more in the coming months.

Lip Sync
Challenge: to demonstrate precise and accurate lip sync animation to a source of audio.
Solution: By using time remapping in Adobe After Effects I carefully orchestrated multiple mouth shapes to create the appearance of a character singing the iconic “Killer Queen” by Queen, all the while including dynamic visuals that are reflective of a music video.
